Why Joined-Up?
The team at D.A.S believe that if you are using different systems for different aspects of your asset management very few of the very many available benefits can be achieved. To best illustrate this, Roy Davies, CEO of DAS, refers to what he describes as the Asset Dependency Model.
Illustrated above are the three main areas where there are countless opportunities to cut costs. For example:
- Are you unknowingly maintaining assets at your cost when they are still under warranty?
- Are you relying on preventative maintenance even though you have condition monitoring sensors?
- Can you find your parts when needed for a work order or even, can your contractor or engineer find the asset?
- Do you have a clear idea of who owns what budget and how much is being spent on your assets?
Because Acumen has been developed from scratch it has not been burdened with legacy code that has accumulated over many years. This has given the D.A.S team a ‘once only’ opportunity to really push the boundaries of what a complete Asset Management solution should and could be, given the latest technological advancements and user interface possibilities. The Acumen system possesses a complete location tracking module that allows the client user to integrate with the correct locational tracking technology whether it be RFID or GPS. This allows real-time visibility on where any critical asset actually is when you need to know.
So when an asset breaks down and needs that critical part immediately, you can actually find it. Of course this requires some initial hardware investment to perform the job, but once done, the data generated on the said asset’s location can be determined immediately within the Acumen system.
Another great example of the technology integration is asset monitors. The Acumen system uses a very clever system of upper and lower limits to create ‘alerts’ if any given asset’s performance deviates from these pre-sets.
This principle can be applied to:
- Energy usage
- Emission outputs
- Condition-based monitoring, encompassing temperature, vibration, oil viscosity, running hours and so on
- OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency)
- 5. Locational Geofencing
Finally, the Acumen GUI sets a new standard for any type of application. This needs to be seen to be believed. To find out more about this new breed of Asset Management software and when it will be available, contact the team at D.A.S.
